Ireland Prime Minister Leo Varadkar visited Taj Mahal
Ireland Prime Minister Leo Varadkar, who has his roots in India, recently visited The Taj Mahal. Varadkar, who is currently on a private visit to India, celebrated New Year in Goa with his family.
Prime Minister Leo Eric reached Agra Cantonment railway Station yesterday by Gatiman Express. Police and administrative officials welcomed him at the Agra Cantonment railway station. Arrangements were made for him at the Taj. He then reached the Taj Mahal at 11.20 am. He saw the Taj for about an hour. He took information about the history of the Taj. He stared at the mosaic of the main dome for a long time. He described the beauty of Taj Mahal as “Amazing and unique”.
He also visited his ancestral village in Gujarat. It was his first visit to the village, after he became prime minister of Ireland in June 2017. His father Ashok Varadkar, a doctor, moved to the United Kingdom in 1960’s. The visit was a “special moment” as three generations of his family gathered at Varad, Ireland PM said after the villager felicitated him. He also visited a temple of the village deity.
The Taj Mahal is one of the Seven Wonders of the World which is considered as the most photogenic destinations of India. It is one of the most exquisite structures ever built by any emperor. It was constructed by the fifth Mughal emperor in the fond memory of his favorite wife Mumtaj Mahal. The Taj Mahal in terms of architecture, is one of the most symmetrical structures in the world, constructed using pure white marble and adorned with precious and semi precious stones. The construction started in 1631 and got completed in 1653 AD; 20,000 workers worked day and night together for 22 years.
